Hi! Hello again, old friends. I’m finally back to blogging after all these years. I’ve missed it, honestly. Over the past 20 years, I’ve randomly blogged in places like FB, Tumblr, my own journal, etc. and I’ve had many moments in my head where I’ve thought, “This would make a great blog topic.” But alas, those thoughts stayed in my head. Well, no more! Here I am!

I wanted to make this a true record of my online writings, so I’ve gone back into my archives and copied every old blog post I could find, including my graphic design from the websites, no matter how embarrassing or cringeworthy. Some are missing, and I may be adding a few more as I find them, but for the most part, this is everything from my old websites, letomoon.lindsey.net, letomoon.com, and ukiyo.net.

In reading these older posts, I have many moments where I groan inwardly at my own stupidity, but also moments where I remember the joy I felt, where I’m proud of myself, and moments where I clearly see myself becoming the person I am today. I’d like to think that I’m now older and wiser than that girl. Older? Definitely. And I’ve certainly learned a lot of lessons. But I think part of me is just as clueless as I was back then. I’d hate to think I’ll ever reach a point when I feel like I know everything there is to know, nothing more to learn. I will constantly be learning until the day I die. Hopefully after! Depending on what happens to my consciousness at that point.

I will say I think I’ve come back to writing lately for a few reasons. My dad passed away a couple of months ago (it still feels like yesterday), and he was a writer. He wrote a few books that he self-published on Amazon for a while, but I know he always wanted to be a novelist, and he told me several times that he wished he’d started publishing his works earlier. I’ve also reached the era of my life where middle age and such wonderful states of being like “perimenopause” have brought forward in painful relief the image of my own mortality. A mid-life crisis, perchance. And this has made me realize that my time is limited, and if I’m not doing what I truly want to be doing with my life, I’m wasting it.

This has brought on a gamut of activities that have been sitting on the back burners of my mental stove for far too long, one being wanting to leave a record of my existence out here in the Internet ether. I’d like those who remember me (or even those who never knew me) to be able to read my words and perhaps feel a slight kinship with me. I hope I can make even a few people feel better about life, or even just mildly amuse them. In that way, I won’t ever really be gone – at least until the AI overlords demolish the World Wide Web for their own motivations. Even then, I’m sure they’ll archive it somewhere, and I’ll still be a little speck in there.

Anyway, I leave you today with a really interesting teaching article I found about sound. But I’ll be back later.
