Oh, boy. Are you ready for this? This is kind of a trend lately in online journals. A hundred random things about yourself. So are you ready? Here goes. I will give you a cookie if you read ALL of these. I’m serious about the cookie.
1. I can listen to a new song I like almost 20 times repeatedly until I get sick of it.
2. I have a chicken pox scar just to the right (my right) of my bellybutton.
3. I believe in aliens.
4. Every time I go outside at night and the moon is out, I have to look at it.
5. Every time someone else looks at their watch, I have to look at mine.
6. Some people might call me obsessive compulsive.
7. I have always wanted a tattoo and at least one abnormal peircing.
8. I didn’t pass my first driver’s test because apparently, I’m a “California stopper.”
9. I have never taken driver’s ed.
10. I have never gotten a ticket, except the one I got in the wreck for not having insurance. But that was dismissed. With no cost. 😀
11. I have seen the movie “The Fifth Element” over 70 times.
12. One time when I was in the 9th grade, I was in Bath and Body Works and I took a little charm off of one of the little nail polishes. That is the only thing I’ve stolen in my entire life. Well, when I was 5, I took some gum at the grocery store, but my dad made me put it back.
13. Usually Friday the 13th is one of my luckier days.
14. There’s this black cat that has followed me throughout my entire life. It always has the same bright golden eyes and it stares at me. A nice, long stare right into my head. I have come to the conclusion that it reincarnates itself to follow me.
14. I have a zebra striped fuzzy tank top that I have never worn but every once in a while I take it out of the closet and look at it while I decide wether to go out and party or not. It’s my party shirt.
15. I have always wanted to play basketball for a team.
16. I am 5’1″. So, no basketball. I’m small but I’m quick.
17. When I was 8 or 9 I was on a softball team called the Shockerz. I always sat on the bench. I played maybe twice. But I do remember how jealous I was because my best friend was on a team that had hot pink and black for their colors. Ours were red and black.
18. I have always disliked the color red.
19. I have a huge crush on Harrison Ford. But only when he’s Indiana Jones.
20. Dr. Jones, no time for love.
21. I have never had any type of alcoholic beverage except a few drinks of Zima once.
22. When I was in the seventh grade, I tried smoking but I hated it. I tried it because everyone told me not to, and they would always talk about how kids thought it was cool but it really wasn’t. I thought this was just a big conspiracy so I tried it. They were right.
23. The only time I’ve ever REALLY seen the stars is one night when my dad had to drive some house plans to this guy that lived in the country. The sky was so filled with stars that I could barely see the space in between. That was the second most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
24. The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen is the moonlight reflecting off the top of a layer of clouds.
25. The second most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen is my nephew Benjamin right after he was born.
26. The third is my mother.
27. The fourth is my grandfather’s face as he was passing away.
28. The fifth is the look on my brother’s face while he was looking at me and holding me right after I was born.
29. When I was in middle school, a girl named Autumn Harrison died in a plane crash because her grandfather flew even though it was bad weather. Ever since then, I cannot trust a person over 40 who owns a plane.
30. My trust limit is two. After you break my heart twice, you will never completely regain my trust. I will always hold you at least a little ways from my heart.
31. Only three people in this world have broken my heart twice. They were all men. They know who they are.
32. The only time I have ever let a guy come between a friendship is with Lindsey Matthews my sophomore year of high school. It was Marc Herringshaw. It was not worth it.
33. My favorite TV show of all time is Roswell. It moves emotions in me I didn’t even know I had.
34. I feel much more than most people do. When I was a child, people would always tell me I was too sensitive. I have always been able to tell what people are feeling.
35. I have only recently, in the past 3 years, usually been able to tell what people are thinking.
36. I have a very highly developed intuition. There are some days when nothing surprises me because I know what’s going to happen a split second before it happens. It’s like the film of the day is running a little faster in my head than in life.
37. I have never used a Ouija board. But one time when I was at a sleepover, all the other girls used one except for me and Kiki, because we felt it was evil. It probably is.
38. I am rarely spontaneous. I have to plan everything. And if I don’t write it down, I won’t remember to do it.
39. I make friends slowly, but once I am your friend, my loyalty is stronger than most things in this world.
40. The first movie I ever saw in the theater was Bambi. I was 2 years old. I don’t remember it.
41. Movies are extremely important to me. They’re an escape and an artificial emotion generator. I work in two movie theaters and it’s the best job I could ever imagine.
42. I have always wanted to be an astronaut.
43. I am almost completely blind in my left eye. I have amblyopia but you could never tell by looking at me.
44. I still have two of my baby teeth. They have never fallen out.
45. One night when I was about 9 I couldn’t sleep so I went to the living room and turned on the TV and started watching an episode of Flipper. My brother woke up and made me go back to sleep and I have always wondered how that episode ended.
46. One time when I was 7 I was using Avon’s Skin So Soft after my bath to soften my feet but I spilled it in the sink. So I put my feet in the sink and stood up and slipped right back out and against the bathroom door and onto the floor. My mom had to break open the door and rescue me: completely naked, covered in Skin So Soft and bawling my eyes out.
47. One day, again about 7 (that was a destructive year for me) I was looking out the window and rocking back and forth on my knees on my brother’s suitcase. The suitcase fell backwards and my upper lip and teeth hit the windowsill. I tore the corner of my mouth and had to get 5 stitches, most of those in my mouth. There’s still a little scar on my lip and teeth imprints in the windowsill.
48. When I was born, the doctor said I would be tall for my age. He lied.
49. Also when I was born, I was really red and they had to wrap me in a blue blanket because they were out of pink. So in my first picture I look like a little Cherokee boy.
50. I am 1/126th Cherokee but I’m over a quarter Irish so I’m extremely pale skinned.
51. I don’t really know the rest of my heritage because my dad didn’t really know his father, but my last name should have been Howard.
52. I am extremely boy crazy. Always have been. Always will be. For having little confidence in myself, I am an extremely big flirt.
53. I used to be very happy and outgoing when I was a child, but when I was 8 my stepmom verbally and physically abused me and tried to kill me. For a very long time after that, I was afraid of public places and I had almost 20 panic attacks a day. I was back to happy and outgoing by my sophomore year of high school, but the being afraid in public is just now fading away. In the past two years, I have just begun to learn how to love myself.
54. I am totally independent. One of my goals is to have a beautiful house furnished with Pottery Barn stuff, and a nice car, and a wonderful career. And to have gotten these things all by myself. 🙂
55. I want to wait at least a year after I get out of college to get married. And I may not want kids. Ever.
56. If I do have a child, I want to be 24 when it happens to hold up the tradition. My brother was 12 when I was born. I was 12 and he was 24 when his first son was born. When I’m 24, Benjamin will be 12 and then I can have a child.
57. These are the kinds of things I think about. My brain is very active and if I’m not doing or thinking of at least 3 things at once, I feel bored.
58. My IQ is 146 and I made a 30 on my ACT’s. For the elementary school entrance exams, I spelled elephant correctly at 4 years old. It’s because my mom taught me to read when I was 3. At the age of 5, I owned 312 books. I counted.
59. When I was in the first grade, I got out in a spelling bee on the word “guess.” In the back row behind me, a 5th grader was wearing a Guess shirt.
60. In elementary school, I was known as the brain and the crybaby.
61. In middle school, I was known as the nerd.
62. In high school, I was known as the band nerd and the little cute odd girl.
63. In college, I am the brain and the hot girl.
64. I have a list of qualities that I look for in a guy: tall, dark hair, blue or green eyes, brainy, funny, not really athletic but loves the outdoors, willing to talk about the mysteries of the universe.
65. There’s one quality about a couple of guys that’s recently been brought to my attention and it blows my mind: they remember everything I say.
66. I tell my friend Daniel everything about my little crushes. He can’t believe that I get surprised when guys treat me how a woman’s supposed to be treated. He asks who it was that screwed me up so bad that I have no confidence. The sad thing is that I can’t remember. I’m starting to be confident though. I’ve realized my hottie potential.
67. I’ve decided that it doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past, only what’s in the future. Every day gets better.
68. My mother is the most influential person in my life and I am awed by how wonderful she is and how much she loves me every day. I don’t tell her this enough.
69. I got a full scholarship to my college. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to go to college. I look at this as my second greatest acheivement.
70. My third greatest acheivement was being drum major and actually pulling through it. That has been the toughest time in my life so far.
71. My greatest acheivement is living, and continuously growing spiritually.
72. Spirituality to me does not mean God or religion. Spirituality to me is how I perceive the world, my place in it, and how it all connects. God is included in the world, and religion is how I express my spirituality. One of my greatest pet peeves is people who believe their religion is the sum of their spirituality. It’s been my experience that each person is different, and their spirituality is a mixture of different religions.
73. When I was 11, I created a language. The word for moon was “leto.” It was only after that that I discovered that leto was the name of one of the Greek moon goddesses. That name has been close to my heart ever since.
74. My first real crush was in the 6th grade, and it was Brian Reid. But I told him his best friend was cute and I don’t think he’s ever forgiven me. I have always wondered what would have happened if I hadn’t said that. One time when I was a junior I was in Lowe’s and I smelled Brian, just a passing scent wafting by and ever since then, I’ve known that I really screwed something up.
75. A few years ago, my 7th grade Civics teacher died. The things I remember from his class are my best friend Shayna and I always teasing him, and how he would always call me “squirrel bait.”
76. The first time I ever met my greatest friend ever, Elizabeth Okey, I was in Ms. Rob’s English class and she was wearing a plaid skirt and she had a fuzzy cow planner. She was having a very animated conversation and I thought she was the oddest thing I’ve ever seen. Ever since then, we’ve been soul sisters.
77. The first memory I have is when I was 3 and I was outside going next door to play on our next door neighbor’s piano.
78. My mom says I first tried to walk at 7 months, but I fell down and hurt myself and I didn’t try to walk again until the 4th of July, three days before my first birthday.
79. I have two aunts and an uncle on my mom’s side, but my uncle was blown up in an accident before I was born.
80. I have a thing for 7’s. It’s kind of a recurring theme in my life. I was born on 7-7-82 and I weighed 7lbs and 11ozs.
81. I have never been out of the country, but I would love to visit Japan.
82. I would like to meet my soul mate, but not right now. Frankly, right now, I’m a little scared of a serious relationship.
83. This Spring Break I’m going to Houston and it will be the very first vacation I’ve had during Spring Break. I knew if I went anywhere EVER it would have to be of my own accord.
84. I can play the flute, the drums, the xylophone/bells/marimba, the piano, and sort of the violin. I can also sing and direct. I have over 1,000 mp3’s. I love music.
85. I’ve always wanted to take a martial arts class, ever since I saw my dad in his class when I was a little girl.
86. The Herringshaw’s are a curse. It’s amazing how crazy they make your life. Resist as long as you can.
87. I love Japanese art and kimonos. My favorite artist is Hiroshige and I hope to collect kimonos someday.
88. I collect manga, moons, stars, anything Hello Kitty, Sailor Moon, Roswell, The Fifth Element, or Japanese. I also like purple things, leopard patterned things, and things with cats on them.
89. I’ve only ever killed one animal, and that was a dog with my car. It was a golden lab and I cried my eyes out.
90. In the 9th grade, all my friends were into HTML, this weird code you could make web pages with. I learned the basics from two of my friends, very HTML-adept people, Melissa and Beth, and in a short amount of time, I surpassed their web page making skills and I didn’t even own a computer.
91. I’ve had a few people over time that I’ve extremely disliked, but there’s one person that if I ever saw her, I’m terrified that I won’t be able to stop myself from spitting in her face because of what she’s done. I seriously hope she realizes the seriousness of her actions and has begged God for forgiveness.
92. The TV character I most identify with is a mix between Special Agent Dana Scully and Liz Parker.
93. When I was a junior, I felt that I hadn’t done enough crazy things as a teenager so I rounded up my next-door neighbor Katie and we hid in the back of her dad’s truck and threw sticks at passing cars. That lasted about 2 seconds, and then Katie and I ran faster than any mortal has ever run, and that annoying fence that we could never seem to get over was jumped quicker than a change in Oklahoma weather.
94. The freakiest thing that has ever happened to me was one hot summer night last year, I woke completely up from a deep sleep with a horrible feeling. I paced for 20 minutes and prayed harder than I’ve ever prayed before. I didn’t know what I was praying for, but I had the distinct feeling that I would find out someday. A week later I learned that that very night, at that very time, my old next-door neighbor Katie fell off a car and cracked her skull and nearly died. I will always believe that through my prayers, God saved her life.
95. My first boyfriend was Chris Liebig in the 6th grade.
96. I’ve had 11 boyfriends. It’s about to be 12. (Yes, Eric, I counted you.)
97. I’ve almost been hit by lightning three times in my life. One time I was by the lake in a storm and all my hair stood on end. The second time I was in front of my house and there was no sign of a storm, but I got a funny feeling and seconds later, lightning struck a house a block up from ours. The third time, I was in the Hastings parking lot in the rain and I was wearing flip-flops while standing in a big puddle. I felt a little strange and the person I was with started backing up and pointing at my hair. It was completely on end. I got in the car slowly. Disaster averted.
98. The lightning thing might have something to do with the fact that I can hear certain kinds of electricity. I can always tell when a TV is on, even if there’s no picture or sound. I can hear it. I can tell when somebody turns on a TV in my building because there’s a burst of that electric sound. And I swear I once heard a static-y conversation someone was having on a cordless phone, while I was next door.
99. I believe in a universal energy, much like the unified field theory that Einstein was working on. I think everything is made up of energy, and it’s part of an underlying force that explains why the usual physics laws don’t work on normal atoms sometimes. I also believe this energy can be manipulated with the power of the mind. Of course, I don’t have that power, nor do most normal humans. But that’s why people invented magic. To trick the mind into manipulating the energy around them.
100. The final one: my top 10 favorite movies of all time, in order. The Fifth Element, The Three Amigos, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Moulin Rouge, The Star Wars saga, The Jerk, The Breakfast Club, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Matrix, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. 🙂

A dream: I’m on the top of a building, on the edge. It’s night, the wind is whipping my hair and I’m looking straight ahead. I want to look down but I can’t. All of a sudden I’m a different person, someone from my past. Why can’t I let go of her? What is it about her that haunts me? Will I never be rid of her? Or is it that I don’t feel I’m strong enough to let her go? I look down as her. The street, miles below, is oblivious to me. I’m wearing this ridiculous dress and my hair is done, the way I always remember her. I feel the fear in her heart and I feel all the mistakes I’ve made as her. I know what it’s like and it grips me. I feel lost inside her, or maybe she’s lost inside me. I can’t tell if I’m still myself, or if I’ve become her, or if we’ve been the same person all along. I don’t feel suicidal but I feel the need to jump. I can’t. I don’t have the courage. So I sit on the edge of the building and I watch the cars go by and the moon pass across the sky.
